Each Resident creates a Profile Poster at the start of the residency year. These profiles help students see their teachers-in-training as real and multi-dimensional people. |

Our program involves a five-year commitment: the initial residency year of teacher preparation, followed by a four-year, post-graduation commitment to teach in an underperforming CPS school.
The residency year is the basis for the strength, resiliency, and strategic flexibility our graduates need to begin careers as powerful educators with high achievement among their students.
This residency year and the pipeline of uniquely qualified teachers sets AUSL’s mission for school transformation apart from all others. Residents . . .
train at several of our AUSL-network CPS schools for a diversity and depth of experience
gain clinical classroom experience in their apprenticeship with our mentor teachers.
earn a Master’s degree.
receive a $32,000 training salary.
Reflection, active participation, coaching, and ongoing interaction with a master teacher as mentor are the hallmarks of the AUSL residency.
