How to Apply

1. Create your Personal Page

2. Submit an Online Application
   For your convenience, you will use the same user name and password as your personal page for your application. >> Start application
3. Attend an Information Session
   >> Sign up
4. Order Official Transcripts
   Order official, sealed transcripts for ALL of the college/university undergraduate and graduate course work you have completed. Have them sent to AUSL, P.O. Box 34990, Chicago, IL 60634.
5. Submit Supplemental Documents
   Non-Certified Candidates
   • Transcript Analysis Form: After reviewing your transcripts and the Transcript Analysis Forms in your AUSL application, select the grade/content area you are interested in and that your transcript qualifies you to teach
   • Register for Illinois State Tests: Forward a copy of the email registration confirmation to admissions@ausl-chicago.org
   • Submit 2-minute video (optional): You can upload your video to your application or Vimeo and provide us a link.
   Certified Candidates
   • Illinois Teaching Certificate: Submit a photocopy of your Illinois Teaching Certificate, if you have one. Or, you may view your certification online at the Illinois Educator Certification system. Use "Public Search" to enter your name and social security number and view/print your certification report. Upload a pdf with your online application, or mail a paper copy to us.
          If you have a teaching certificate, but it is not from Illinois, you will need to obtain your Illinois certificate and send us a copy before you can enroll in our program in June 2012. Notify us to let us know that this process is underway. Learn more about transferring your certification to Illinois.
   • Submit 2-minute video (optional): You can upload your video to your application or Vimeo and provide us a link.
6. Submit Information to Complete Your File
   Submit test results, additional coursework documentation, etc. as you receive it. If necessary, complete additional course work to become eligible for your desired grade/content area.

Admissions Timeline

In order for us to review your application, your file needs to be complete. Non-certified candidates do not need to have test results prior to our review, but we must have documentation that you have registered for your tests. We recommend that you take your Illinois State Tests at the earliest opportunity (ideally February or soone so you have the opportunity to re-take one or more portions of the tests if needed in April 2012).
